Alimony
Under Florida law, alimony is awarded on a case-specific basis and can include permanent periodic, rehabilitative, bridge and gap, and/or lump sum alimony. In contrast to child support, Florida courts have significant discretion when awarding alimony, utilizing no specific formula or calculation in its determination.
At Icard Merrill, our alimony attorneys understand that the courts consider a multitude of factors when making an alimony adjudication. These factors can include the length of the marriage, the standard of living enjoyed during the marriage, the relative age and health of the parties, the parties’ relative employment capability, and other considerations.
Our alimony lawyers are experienced with the somewhat unpredictable nature of spousal support awards and can objectively evaluate the relevant alimony factors and effectively represent your interests during settlement negotiations and throughout the entire alimony litigation process.
